The catalogue follows the real path of an assessment: first how the person can act, then what they can do with that action.
Switches and buttons
The switch is the point of contact between the person and the technology. We design switches with very low activation forces and adjustable travel, so they can be operated with a finger, a cheek, the chin, a foot or a puff of breath. Every model uses the 3.5 mm jack connector, the de facto standard in assistive technology, and works with any interface in the catalogue.
Symbol communicators
Augmentative and alternative communication software based on symbol grids. Every board can be edited by the carer with no technical skills: you add cells, record a voice, reorganise the vocabulary as the person grows. Reading aloud uses the system voice or real recordings.
Writing and scanning
When motor control allows only one or two reliable movements, automatic scanning still makes writing possible. Our on-screen keyboards integrate with the operating system, so they work inside any program: email, browser, text editor, chat.
Pointing and access
Solutions that replace the mouse when using a hand is impossible or too tiring. We favour inexpensive, easily available hardware (webcams, infrared sensors) with all the processing done locally on the device: no image ever leaves the computer.
Environmental control
Communication is not only words: it is also being able to act on your surroundings. These devices connect the switches in the catalogue to lights, sockets, the television, an adjustable bed and call systems, with a scanning interface consistent with the rest of our software.
Mounts and supports
An aid that is badly positioned is an aid that goes unused. We design adjustable mounts for wheelchairs, beds and tables, with 3D printing files that can be freely downloaded and modified to suit an individual person's posture.
Play and learning
The first step towards communication is discovering that your own movement produces an effect on the world. These activities, designed with speech therapists and support teachers, build cause and effect, turn taking and choosing between alternatives.
